Arts & Crafts Fun at Whittier Senior Center

Today, a few of our team from A-1 Home Care worked with the Whittier Senior Center to host a free arts & crafts event. We don't get the opportunity to interact with the community as much as we'd like to, so this was a rare and enjoyable treat for us. Many thanks to the City of Whittier and the seniors we worked with, for the opportunity to have fun making beautiful Christmas tree ornaments with you!

We began with a short PowerPoint demonstration filled with beautiful Christmas music and holiday images to get us into a festive mood. Then, we spent time awakening our inner artists decorating Christmas ornaments.

It's not everyday that we can let down our hair and have fun with glitter, glue and colored pens. We had an amazing time, and judging by the looks on their faces, the seniors did too.

The new elderly/ 24 Hour Care in Whittier

What exactly is the term "elderly"? At what age does one become one, and why? According to the New York Times, marketers are asking this question too. The market research company Generational Targeted Marketing pipes in with their market research survey that indicates the extent of the confusion.

So what are the doctors, researchers and academics who study this demographic to do? Harry Moody from the AARP comments:

"What's going on is we have a problem with the subject itself. Everyone wants to live longer, but no one wants to be old. Personally, I tend to use the term "older people" because it's the least problematic. Everyone is older than someone else."
